Mike Reid, Principal & CEO
As Principal of Critical Point Communications, Mike has expertise in producing written communications products of varying scope and size. His background in both scientific/technical and legal/policy environments enables him to quickly engage in a spectrum of policy areas, from social sciences to applied sciences. He has experience across the public and private sectors, particularly in policy development, stakeholder engagement and strategic professional writing.
Prior to establishing Critical Point Communications in April 2008, Mike spent five years with the Government of Alberta, mostly with Canadian intergovernmental affairs. There he worked on numerous policy issues and special projects including: finance and fiscal relations, labour market development, climate change, energy, and constitutional affairs. These projects often involved the production of communications materials for a range of audiences.
Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (Co-op, 1999) from the University of Alberta, and has worked in the oil and gas, pipeline, and petrochemical sectors. He also has a Bachelor of Laws (2002) from the University of Alberta, and has worked with the Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal of Alberta.
